Silke Schmidt is a Madison-based science writer for UW–Madison and a contributor to Wisconsin People & Ideas. She has also written about energy, medical research, education, economics and the environment for UW-Milwaukee, North Carolina State University and the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism.
